FAQ

What does Acadalus mean?

We do not know that so precisely either. It was the word the then 3 year old Jasmine Koch said, when we were thinking about how to take adavantage of electronics to build new photo equipment. Today she cannot recall what it meant to her back then...

Why is there no rubber pad on top of the CPS h1?

This is to ensure the highest possible angular precison when mounting the camera on a solid turn table.

Why is the device so expensive?

This exclusive product contains many components which are machined by Swiss craftsmen and carefully hand-assembled and tested. Additionally, some of the key components are very precise and expensive motors and sensors which are usually only found in specialized scientific equipment.

Why is the battery connected with a cable, rather than internal?

The device needs a lot of power and therefore strong batteries if one wants to shoot a day or two independently of a power source. A large, removable battery pack cannot be built into the device without making it unnecessarily bulky and unstable. In the studio the device is slender and can be used with a simple power supply.

Why does the device turn off after 20 minutes with the battery, but with the power supply it stays on?

To conserve battery power it turns off automatically, however in the studio the device will stay on as long as it is connected to the mains. When not moving, it consumes about as much power as an old fashioned bicycle taillight.

How long is my warranty?

We cover the device for 3 years after initial purchase for defects outside of wear and tear (such as batteries), if it was properly registered. Defective products can be sent to the factory after obtaining an RMA # through our website (see the Repairs tab on this page.)

Can I use an Arca-Swiss type quick release plate with the head?

Yes. The camera platform has a standard 3/8 or 1/4" mount.

Can I rent a head for a specific assignment?

To find out about worldwide rental availability, or if you are near our location, please contact us.
